Contained here is a listing of the INTASC Standards and specific examples of fulfilling them:

Standard 1 - Content Pedagogy
The teacher understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structure of the discipline(s) he teaches and can create learning experiences that make these aspects of the subject matter meaningful to students.

2008-09 - Assistant Teaching, Conserve School, Land O' Lakes, WI
Responsibility for assisting in the teaching of Introductory Research Methods. Included collaboration and creation of lesson ideas.

2008 - Teaching, DuPage High School District 88, Villa Park, IL
Responsibility for teaching technology classes to community seniors. Assigned to develop, plan, and implement program with assistance of student helpers.

2006 - Substitute Teaching/Homebound Tutor, Elmhurst Community School District, Elmhurst, IL
Responsibility for teaching in multiple areas on a Sub/Tutor basis.  Areas of common emphasis: Science, Social Studies, Special Education.  Science Department Head commented on my grasp of concepts while under informal observation.  Homebound areas cover all core subjects and require adaptation to time constraints and/or organizational challenges.

Standard 2 - Student Development
The teacher understands how children learn and develop, and can provide learning opportunities that support their intellectual, social, and personal development.

2008-09 - Dorm Supervisor, Conserve School, Land O' Lakes, WI
Tasked with oversight of a dorm environment. Advising, Student Issues, Academics, and Extra-curriculars.

2007-08 - Stage Supervisor, Willowbrook High School, Villa Park, IL
Tasked with non-theatre stage events for 1300 seat auditorium. Supervised student stage crew and provided guidance as to proper professionalism regarding events.

2006 - Homebound Tutor, Elmhurst Community School District, Elmhurst, IL
Tasked with providing homebound services to a student with BD/LD issues, main emphasis is on organizational and developmental areas.

Standard 3 - Diverse Learners
The teacher understands how students differ in their approaches to learning and creates instructional opportunities that are adapted to diverse learners.

Responsibility for teaching technology classes to community seniors. Emphasis on older adult education in a technology environment.

2006 - Substitute Teaching, Elmhurst Community School District, Elmhurst, IL
Responsibility for teaching in multiple areas on a Sub/Tutor basis.  I have been placed in classes ranging from Low Performing (LD/BD) to High Performing (Honors/AP).

Standard 4 - Multiple Instruction Strategies
The teacher understands and uses a variety of instructional strategies to encourage students' development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance skills.

Responsible for teaching study skills, health habits, home skills, problem solving in social situations, and various domestic related tasks to a house of students with varied skills.

Standard 5 - Motivation and Management
The teacher uses an understanding of individual and group motivation and behavior to create a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self motivation.

2008-09 - Chess Club/Quiz Bowl/Stage Management, Conserve School, Land O' Lakes, WI
Tasked with supervising or assisting in these areas. Chess Club is new to Conserve and required laying the groundwork. Also, enhanced the stage management program.

The teacher uses knowledge of effective verbal, nonverbal, and medial communication techniques to foster active inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction in the classroom.

Tasked with oversight of students that provide after hours technical assistance.

2006-08 - Technologist, DuPage High School District 88, Villa Park, IL
Responsibility for supporting technology in 2300 user environment. Software, AV, Hardware, Database, and assorted tasks as delegated.

2004 - Teaching With Technology; Panelist, NMU, Marquette, MI
Part of a discussion with university professors about the educational ramifications of using technology.  Additional panelists included a technology consultant from the business world, another college student, and a high school student; all capable of using technology.

Standard 7 - Planning
The teacher plans instruction base on knowledge of the subject matter, students, the community, and curriculum goals.

2008 - Teaching, DuPage High School District 88, Villa Park, IL
Responsibility for teaching technology classes to community seniors. Entire design phase was tasked to instructor.

2007-08 - Teaching, College of DuPage, Glen Ellyn, IL
Responsibility for teaching social studies summer classes. 16 day semesters, 4 hours a day for an equal of one semester's credit.

Standard 8 - Assessment
The teacher understands and uses formal and informal assessment strategies to evaluate and ensure the continuous intellectual, social, and physical development of the learner.

2008 - Teaching, DuPage High School District 88, Villa Park, IL
Responsibility for teaching technology classes to community seniors. Provided course evaluations and compiled data for future enrollments.

Standard 9 - Reflective Practice: Professional Growth
The teacher is a reflective practitioner who continually evaluates the effects of his choices and actions on others (students, parents, and other professionals in the learning community) and who actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally.

2008-09 - Residential Intern Graduate Seminar, Conserve School, Land O' Lakes, WI
An in-house course relating to issues in a boarding school environment (ecology, counseling, ed theory, disabilities, and other ed topics). Could potentially render a masters from UW-Stevens Point.

2007 - NIU Driver's Ed; Northern Illinois University, Oak Brook, Illinois
I took the summer driving program through NIU to be able to teach driver's ed (12 grad credits).

2005 - Student Teaching Experience; Gage Park HS, Chicago, Illinois
Having no background in urban education, my second student teaching placement was in a low socioeconomic area.  Personally, I struggled to find an effective practice and interviewed many professionals currently in the field for possible solutions to a widely ranging problem.

2005 - Student Teaching Experience; Macleans College, Howick, New Zealand
The international studies department provides for the opportunity for student teachers to get some experience in school outside the US.  I was able to visit a school in New Zealand and see how the educational system works there.

2004 - Phi Delta Kappa, student member; NMU PDK student president (3 semesters)
The opportunity provided itself to start up a student branch of PDK to address weak points in the education program.  A side benefit was the access to professional members as a resource to activities.  (2006) Still an active member in PDK, switched to professional membership.

Standard 10 - School-Community Involvement
The teacher fosters relationships with school colleagues, parents, and agencies in the larger community to support students' learning and well-being.

I have been taking part in stage supervision for non-theatre events. Lighting, Sound, and Stage setup aspects covered.

2005 - Year 9 School Camp, Macleans College, Howick, New Zealand
I took part in the week long camp for one of the houses of the school.  We went to Kawau Island near Auckland and were in charge of about 60 students.  It was a wonderful experience for everyone.
