non-theatre stage events for 1300 seat auditorium. Supervised student stage crew and provided guidance as to proper professionalism regarding events.

is on organizational and developmental areas.

I took the summer driving program
through NIU to be able to teach driver's ed (12 grad credits).

Having no
background in urban education, my second student teaching placement was in a
low socioeconomic area. Personally, I struggled to find an effective
practice and interviewed many professionals currently in the field for
possible solutions to a widely ranging problem.

The
international studies department provides for the opportunity for student
teachers to get some experience in school outside the US. I was able
to visit a school in New Zealand and see how the educational system works
there.
2004 - Phi Delta Kappa,
student member; NMU PDK student president (3 semesters)
The opportunity
provided itself to start up a student branch of PDK to address weak points
in the education program. A side benefit was the access to
professional members as a resource to activities. (2006) Still an
active member in PDK, switched to professional membership.

I took part in
the week long camp for one of the houses of the school. We went to
Kawau Island near Auckland and were in charge of about 60 students. It
was a wonderful experience for everyone. |
